The World-Famous (to some people) online-novels of Lark and Musings, for you to sit back and enjoy in the quietness of your own home. Warning, all novels may contain traces of nuts, and insanity in large doses. (Reading hint: For more enjoyment and less wanting-to-die-from-how-stupid-it-all-is, L&M Blognovels are suggested read in smaller doses, rather than in one sitting).

Of Political Topicality

The arrival of David Cunliffe, ancient politician and oldly elected leader of the ancient pre-Zealand Labour party (not to be confused with the modern David Cunliffe, newly elected leader of the modern New Zealand Labour party) was a cause for celebration amongst the divisions of Nelksun (as in those historic days, unions had not yet been invented).
“If anyone can sort out this mess, it is DC” they murmured like a heart. And behold, about this they were in agreement, excepting those who believed that AC would have been a more fitting solution.

DC had arrived in record time (the ancient postal service being surprisingly efficient, and the sender having remembered to put the right number of stamps upon the parliamentary envelope in which the politician had been carefully inserted), and immediately set to righting the situation with his simple 4 step solution:
Step 1: Speak to the gathering crowd, remembering to portray charm, honesty, and integrity, whilst using carefully worded soundbites to promote his party as the right choice (or left choice, as it may be) for any upcoming election.
Step 2: Raise taxes.
Step 3: Calm down the raging rhino and retrieve the slightly scrambled hero from his current predicament.
Step 4: Announce his new caucus.

And behold, thus did DC bring salvation unto Krulnor, and in the fine tradition of politicians everywhere fulfilled every single hope that the citizens of Nelksun had for him! And thus didst Krulnor endeavour to thank him, but being quite disorientated from his recent plight manage to instead collapse in front of the politician, causing the gathered ancient reporters to focus their stories upon this embarrassing occurance, rather than on the issues DC had raised, and thus didst DC sadly leave Nelksun with no improvement in the polls, which is sadly the way the media worked in those historical days, but of course we have improved greatly since then haven't we?
Nevertheless, the important thing to note is that Krulnor was finally at Nelksun, standing in front of the chief, and ready to receive his quest, which he now knew was going to take place in Dleifekaw.
Krulnor sighed a satisfied sigh. This was one of his favourite parts of any quest: the learning of what the quest was. It came before the hard work of questing, and after the hard work of journeying to the questing commencement site (which always seemed like it took such a long time. Indeed, some times it felt as though approximately two years and four days had passed from his first encounter with a scrawny messenger to the point at which he currently stood, with so much happening during his journey to the quest that it almost seemed like a quest itself, or like a period of time vast enough to allow for at least two marriages to occur, changes of occupations, graduations, and moving to other towns to take up some associate role or other. There may have even been changes of accounts and deletions of old ones to add confusion to the proceedings). But this moment, ah! This moment!
He allowed himself to savour it just a little.

By which time the chief had finished stating the quest, and Krulnor had to politely ask him to repeat it.
